There are 2 illustrious names from Cesenatico's past: Cesare Borgia and Leonardo da Vinci.

The Renaissance commander commissioned Leonardo to carry out all the studies to reinforcethe port (1502).

The Leonardo da Vinci's canal port is the city's heart where the boats tie up facing the typical restaurants famous for their fish cusine. In the canal port one can still admire the open air Maritime Museum, a pratically unique and very beautilful collection of ancient boats whose multi-coloured sails and hulls recount the story of centuries of fishing and maritime traffic.
